Former Giants RB Saquon Barkley reached agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year, $37.75 million contract that could be worth up to $46.75M and includes $26M fully guaranteed at signing, per sources. Barkley now beats the franchise tag number and has a maximum average-per-year salary of $15.833M, which would be second highest for a RB in NFL History.

QB Kirk Cousins leaving Vikings for 4-year deal with Falcons.

Minnesota Vikings free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins has agreed to a four-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons, agent Mike McCartney announced.
Cousins, 35, was having one of his best seasons in 2023 and had been one of the NFL's most durable quarterbacks before tearing his right Achilles tendon in Week 8 at Lambeau Field. At the time, he was tied for the NFL lead in passing touchdowns (18) and ranked second in passing yards (2,331).
Before the injury, he had started 136 of a possible 138 games since ascending to QB1 with the Washington Commanders in 2015. One of those two missed starts occurred when the Vikings were resting their starters for the playoffs in 2019, and the other came after a positive COVID-19 test in 2021.
Cousins spent three seasons as Washington's full-time starter but never found common ground on a long-term extension. He played his final two seasons with the team on the franchise tag, setting himself up to enter the free agent market in 2018 at age 30 -- a rare entrance of a high-level quarterback available to every NFL team in the prime of his career.
The Vikings, one year removed from backup Case Keenum taking them to the 2017 NFC Championship Game, pounced quickly, hoping he could lift the team into the Super Bowl. They met his demand for a fully guaranteed three-year contract worth $84 million and since had signed him to extensions in 2020 and 2022 to provide short-term salary cap relief.
The Vikings did not, however, substantively improve their pursuit of the Super Bowl during that time. They had a 50-37-1 regular season record with one NFC North title and were 1-2 in two playoff games.
As a result, during negotiations in the spring of 2023, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah decided against extending the guaranteed portion of Cousins' contract beyond the 2024 season. Instead, the sides agreed to an adjustment that allowed the Vikings to lower his salary cap number and guaranteed Cousins a path to free agency in 2024 without the Vikings having use of the franchise tag.
The four-time Pro Bowl selection ranks fifth among active quarterbacks -- and 24th all-time -- with 39,471 passing yards in 12 NFL seasons. Cousins' 270 touchdowns rank 20th all-time, and he has 110 interceptions. He also has rushed for 958 yards and another 19 scores.

Nine-time Pro-Bowl QB and former Super-Bowl champ Russell Wilson plans to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, per league sources. Wilson will sign a team-friendly, one-year deal in which the Broncos will wind up paying $38 million of his salary while Wilson wears the black and yellow.

Patriots finalizing trade of QB Mac Jones to Jaguars.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots are finalizing a deal to trade quarterback Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday.
The two sides had been discussing a sixth-round draft pick as compensation, sources told Schefter. The trade cannot be processed until the new league year begins Wednesday and Jones passes a physical.
The Patriots own the No. 3 pick in the NFL draft, where many around the NFL expect them to select one of the top-rated quarterbacks -- likely a decision between LSU's Jayden Daniels and North Carolina's Drake Maye.
Jones, who grew up in Jacksonville, joins his hometown team as a backup to Trevor Lawrence -- the first pick in the 2021 draft. Jones had been selected 15th in the 2021 draft.
Jones is expected to compete with C.J. Beathard to be Lawrence's primary backup. Beathard is in the final year of a two-year, $4.5 million contract he signed before the 2023 season.
Beathard started just one game in his three seasons in Jacksonville, completing 17 of 24 passes for 178 yards to lead the Jaguars to a 26-0 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 17 last season. That was the only win for the Jaguars in their final six games, as they finished 9-8 and failed to make the playoffs.
Lawrence had started every game of his NFL career until he missed the Week 17 game against the Panthers because of a right (throwing) shoulder injury he suffered the week before in a loss at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lawrence battled multiple injuries last season: a left knee sprain, an ankle sprain, a concussion and the shoulder injury. He wasn't a full participant in any practice over the last three weeks of the season.
Jones' three-year tenure with the Patriots began with promise, as he was selected to the Pro Bowl as an alternate in his rookie season. Jones started all 17 regular-season games as the Patriots went 10-7 and clinched a playoff berth (losing to the Buffalo Bills 47-17 in the wild card round).
Jones was 352-of-521 for 3,801 yards with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions as a rookie, but his production dipped over the next two seasons. The departure of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to become the Las Vegas Raiders' head coach was the first of several changes -- both coaching- and personnel-wise -- that affected Jones' development.
In 2022, former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick turned to longtime defensive coach Matt Patricia as the team's offensive playcaller, asking Patricia to implement his new vision for the offense. Longtime special teams coach Joe Judge was named quarterbacks coach. The marriage with Patricia, Judge and Jones didn't produce the desired results, with Jones finishing 288-of-442 for 2,997 yards with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. An early-season ankle injury also affected Jones, who acknowledged there were on-field decisions he also could have handled better.
Belichick then hired former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien to lead the offense in 2023, in hopes of getting Jones back on track, but it never came to fruition. Jones finished last season 224-of-345 for 2,120 yards with 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, with Belichick benching him after 11 games in favor of Bailey Zappe.
The Patriots currently have Zappe and second-year player Nathan Rourke on their quarterback depth chart.
The team had single selections in each round of the draft, so a sixth-round pick gives them an additional pick in that round, and eight overall.

The Patriots trade of Jones isn't a surprise, but I thought there was a chance they might try to sign Cousins or Wilson and draft Marvin Harrison Jr. or another offensive weapon. With these moves it now looks like NE is locked into taking the best QB otb.
